Watched "The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo" which stars Daniel Craig (aka James Bond) and Rooney Mara, whom you will not recognize but she's the girl who dumped FB's Mark Zuckerberg in the beginning of "The Social Network". She looks like Marilyn Manson in this movie. This is a dark, psychological thriller and has the trademarks of a prime David Fincher film (Seven, Fight Club). Aside from watching the movie, I was also listening intently to the score as it was co-done by Reznor. He seems to have made a second career for himself as a musical scorer. I'd say his score has a lot of elements of NIN in it. It was surprising to see that several 'sex scenes' were graciously left uncut. The first one though is a brutal rape scene where in Mara's character is tied up and anally raped. The others were much better though Mara is so skinny. But here boobs are adequate nonetheless. Watch it 'coz it's one of the better films that have come out so far. How is it compared to the original version? Just finished watching the Fincher version, and i can say it is far better than the Swedish one since it offers everything that the 1st adaptation (the rape, the sex, the lesbian nudity) has done but they added more scenes that enrich the characters and the story. Fincher's Blomkvist is more relatable and Lisbeth relationship with him is not purely sex but actual love compared to the 1st version. In terms of style the Swedes is a thriller on the get go with the bombastic musical score while Fincher is a slow burn using subtle electronic music by Reznor and the use of background noise. The best thing that Fincher did is not to do an "Americanized version" but an English speaking film adaptation of the book thus the original setting is intact and majority of the cast has Swedish accents (bork bork bork) and it feels like watching a European film. I cant compare who is the better Lisbeth; Rooney or Naomi Rapace, they acting is pretty much dependent on the hands directior of the film. But since this is a whodunit I already know who the killer is regardless if I watched the 1st adaptation (clue: the suspect in this type of movie is potrayed by the familiar Character actor) Guessing of course is difficult with the 1st one since I'm not familiar with the Swedish cast. Oh and Hollywood version do have some minor changes but I think this more of a creative choice to economized the use of the actors. I hate Hollywood remakes even when they can do a fitting version e.g Let the Right One In I still prefer the foreign one, but with Fincher he is such a good storyteller that he can pull it off. He should direct more of this type of movies rather than oscar baits like facebook and curious case of benjamin boring.

I watched "Wrath of the Titans", the sequel to "Clash of the Titans" and totally regretted it. Sure, the CGI graphics was awesome and that's it. The story is sooooo predictable. The only reaon I was kept awake was when Rosamund Pike (see pic below) was on the screen. And if Perseus was a total bad ass, his kid was the exact opposite and was a whimpering wimp. I should've watched "The Hunger Games" instead. Pfft! 5/10

"The Most Blaphemous Story Ever Told" Last weekend, me and my friend went downtown to look for some pirated dvds (lol). We found this and upon checking, it was like, "WTF is this shit? A skeleton-like zombie portraying Christ trying to fuck a nun! Are you fucking kidding us?" Hahahaha. It was kinda funny because we expected too much. Well, it's not that bad (I think so). This film was directed by Bill Zebub, the man behind movies and documentaries such as "Death Metal: A Documentary", "Metalheads", "Assmonster: The Making Of A Horror Movie", "The Worst Horror Movie Ever Made", and "Jesus Christ: Serial Rapist".

Battleship - this movie reminds me a lot of last year's "Battle: Los Angeles" in the sense that that movie was secretly a Hollywood co-production with the US Army and was meant to be a propaganda film for the military. This time, "Battleship" works more like a highlight reel for the US Navy. The plot is simple enough: scientists discover a planet light years away and send a signal hoping to make contact. Make contact they did as a fleet of alien spaceships land in the Pacific Ocean bringing imminent destruction along with it. The rest of the movie sees how the humans goes against insurmountable odds (i.e., the more advanced alien armada) to beat and destroy the malevolent invaders. Yeah, same plot as the aforementioned Battle: Los Angeles and same theme as War of the Worlds. This is another one of those mindless junk that Hollywood routinely churns out. On the surface it's so visually enthralling with the top-notch effects, loud explosions and eye candy (Brooklyn Decker) it offers. But when you come out of the cinema, you feel empty and this movie will leave no lasting impression with you at all. You're better off skipping this and wait till they show it on cable TV a year later. Again, I should've watched "The Hunger Games" instead! Damn! 6/10P.S. Rihanna can't act if her life depended on it.

I bought an original DVD copy of this with an exclusive alternate ending. This film, in my humble opinion, showcases the horrors of drug dependence. The NZT pill may have cost people's lives in the end, however the experience was nonetheless addictive. Hehe. How I wish that the pill's real. I wanna try it myself. Hahaha. Robert De Niro's the man! ;D

Watched "Dark Shadows" last Sunday. I love Tim Burton films so I enjoyed this one, but it's not as visually "dark" as I was expecting it to be. I loved the humor and the 70's touch. Chloe Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass) is jail bait.

Saw The Thing yesterday and I enjoyed it. I know I saw the original being played on channel 9 when I was a kid, but I couldn't remember anything, hehehe... I finally saw The Thing too after a couple of weeks delay. The original 1982 John Carpenter-directed version is one of my favorite sci-fi/horror films. So I was really looking forward to this prequel/reboot. I was a bit apprehensive that it would rely too much on CGI in supplying the monster scenes. After watching it, I was not disappointed with what I saw. The CGI was just alright and the monster was still genuinely creepy especially after it would transform from its humanoid shape. This 2011 version certainly is a worthy remake of the original film. watched this with my wife last week end and i just remembered a Municipal Waste song with the same name. i guess they made the song about the original movie. cant wait to get a hold of the original movie ;D

I worked half day yesterday so I decided to watch a movie before going home. I watched Prometheus on 3D for the second time. It was a 1:40PM screening so I had the entire theater to myself! Yeah, the Chinese subtitles are an eyesore when you watch movies here.

This might be the local movie that I'm excited to watch, its a remake of the 2nd episode of the Shake Rattle and Roll but what piqued my interest is that it is directed by the great genre director Rico Ilarde and not some some hollywood and jhorror copycat hacks. He is fully aware that the movie is silly yet he still injected some Lovecraftian type tentacle horror shit in the trailer. Trailer www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1lq9XlH3Qg
