So far, I like Altars of Madness for the David Vincent era and Formulas Fatal to the Flesh for the Steve Tucker era. But Entangled in Chaos is another favorite because it's live.

Morbid Angel is one of my fave bands. together with Bolt Thrower's Warmaster i used to alternate it endlessly with Altars of Madness back in college using my trusty walkman. 2 of my most favorite albums of all time definitely

What do you think of this song?

Doesn't sound anything too different from the Death Metal side of what they've been doing in the last few years. And that, for me, is a good thing. Riffs seem fairly straightforward. Not hearing much interplay between the two guitarists [ala Gateways]. Maybe because its a faster song? Sucks that the camera was pointed at the wrong people during the guitar solo.

That sucks when that happens. I hate it most when there is a guitar solo and they would show the bassist.

That sucks when that happens. I hate it most when there is a guitar solo and they would show the bassist. Or in this case, the rhythm guitar player. I've seen it so many times. For this song, it sounds very similar to the tone that was apparent in Heretic. I hope they come out with a more straightforward release minus the filler which doesn't add value to the album.

I hope they make a new album soon. I'll be pleased if the album will be at least as good as Gateways quality-wise, better if as good as their first three. But so far the new song sounds promising.

2010: the year of a new Morbid angel record, fuck yes!!!! Although I was surprised by the label with who they have inked a deal.....Read below!
"The whole Season of Mist staff is immensely proud to finally confirm the rumour and announce that the label has inked a worldwide deal (outside of Japan) with cult death metal band MORBID ANGEL!
Formed in 1984, MORBID ANGEL are one of the pioneering bands of death metal as well as the current masters of extreme music and to date easily the best selling artist in the genre. The band has had a glorious 20 plus year history and significant commercial success, selling well over a million and a half albums on their eight albums to date.
"I am truly looking forward to our new relationship with Season of Mist", frontman David Vincent comments. "Michael Berberian has a lot of artistic vision and is a real music fan. This has been a long process to get to this point and in my opinion, it was worth the wait!"
"I'm really stoked to be working now with SOM!!!!", adds founding member Trey Azagthoth. "The French have always shown me they much more value art over Fabricated Flatlined Hype, and it's this artistic minded value that will open so many new doors for extreme music as a whole. Mind Makes Meaning, why not own the process?"
Season of Mist will release the Floridians' ninth album in 2010."

The elite one wishes to speak. I think Morbid Angel signing with Season of Mist isn't a surprise. Season of Mist has proven slowly but surely that they are a metal force to reckon with, with signings like Mayhem, Septicflesh, and my heroes (and best friends) Watain. They also have an underground black metal sublabel and have recently released the new Urgehal. Of course they also have Cynic, the gayest band on Earth. But that's not my definition of their sound but someone elses That being said I am not excited with this news. Morbid Angel is so boring now. If I were to post in that cheap thread about how bands should've disbanded after a particular record, then it's Morbid Angel after "Covenant."

Formulas Fatal to the Flesh is also an excellent album. You can also hear Trey Azagthoth howls on that album. On "Invocation...", if memory serves. I don't have my copy with me. Trey weirded me out when he talks about the Kabbalah or the Ancient Ones with his interviews for this album. Particularly the one I read from Metal Maniacs then. Funny, I just read another interview with him that the Annukai will return to earth in 2012 and eat humans. I don't know how to react on that.

MORBID ANGEL'S PRESS RELEASE
Legendary death metal pioneers MORBID ANGEL, whose next album is to be expected later this year, issued the following statement in order to address the rumors regarding drummer Pete Sandoval...
"World Management and MORBID ANGEL would like to let the fans know that rumors about Pedro Sandoval's back surgery are in fact true. Pete has suffered for a long time with a deteriorating disc problem. He was in daily pain and needed to have this done. He has recently been treated by a laser back surgery specialist in Tampa, Florida. He is currently in rehabilitation and doing well. Pete is part of our family and the band's History and we all wish him well and a full recovery. Unfortunately this type of injury, subsequent surgery and rehab cannot be rushed and it will take ample time for him to hopefully be back behind his drums again and out on tour with MORBID ANGEL. The band is moving forward on their next recording with Tim Yeung. Currently the guys are in rehearsals in Tampa putting their finishing touches on the songs for the new album, which is slated for later this year with subsequent touring world wide."

Exactly, I never imagined things to go downhill with "Nevermore." Whatever Morbid Angel are taking, get them away from me!
