Two weeks ago I went back to one of my favorite metal venues here in LA, the infamous Black Castle ! It's been quite a while since I last went. I finally gone back for the Negative Plane gig. Negative Plane has gotta be one of the best current band here in the uS. If you're not familiar with them, you should check out their album that was released by ajna few years back. Their music is not your typical european or south american black metal with undecipherable vocals etc. Negative plane plays well crafted metal with hints of Tom G. Warrior or vocals. Anyway, I got very excited when I first heard that theyre playing around my area since I've been a fan of then since the 1st lp was released. Along with Negative Plane, Line up include other bands like this 1 local deathrash band and another from Nevada, I never really bothered so I purposely arrived late. This gig is also Nuclear Desecrations farewell show, which again, I didnt care about. I went there to see two bands, that's Sanguis Imperem and Negative Plane. Sanguis Imperem delivered the goods that night, I've seen them for 3 or 4 times already since their formation and they never disappoint, their music is plain Death Metal with a twist, check out their ep and I'm sure you will love it. One of my favorite local bands, even better live!. After their set, Negative Plane took over the stage, setting up their set and lighting the incense to create a nice lil atmosphere. Still wondering why most local metaldoods went back, they are not huge fans of NP i'm guessing. So there only a bunch of us watching in front, They played my favorite song from their album (Staring into the abyss) and that alone is worth it. They played most of the songs from the album and another new tune that also killed. I'm so focused watching NP play their set that I didnt realized that I'm standing next to this tall skinny balding white guy, then I just noticed that it was one of the twins from NIFELHEIM ! haha, I'm not sure why he's here, and I saw him with this local latina chick so I'm guessing that she's his girlfriend since they're kissing and all that during the set, which was so not kvlt for him, lol. Helmkamp was there too, since he was the one who arranged this gig, he was just behind his little merch booth with his wife. Last and final set was Nuclear desecration, they were full of energy and sloppy as fuck, Never liked them so I went home after finishing my beer to get something eat. Here's some stolen pics, not mine once again. next Gig: Midnight , and / or Bone Awl, Ashdautas tour next month.

...that NP record is fukkking bad ass...Ajna is building into a a powerhouse with Teitanblood and the new Weapon debut... exactly, They signed Nightbringer as well. It's great that they're releasing some of the most unique metal around. ........with an exception to Averse Sefira, one of the most boring bands live and the most generic BM there is.

RESURRECTION Gossip Bar Paradiz Shopping Centre 35 Selegie Road Singapore 188306 June 6, 2009 Saturday Bands: NAFRAT, DRACONIS INFERNUM, MELTGSNOW, BHELLIOM, RUDRA, MEZA VIRS, and IRON FIST. I just thought of posting some photos I took from the gig last Saturday. Resurrection is the first local gig that I attended in Singapore. The previous gigs that I attended are touring bands. I had a fucking great time. I was impressed by the overall turnout of the gig. The line up features old and new bands and they all fucking slayed! I didn't care about the black metal bands though. The set of Meltgsnow, Rudra, and Ironfist were the highlight for me. The fans were fucking insane. Relentless headbanging and total pit movement. What a sight. The gig started on time (4PM) and the bands, be it old or new, were given the same amount of time on stage. No fucking rockstar set up like we have in the Philippines. The venue is similar to Al's Bar without the chairs and tables. I haven't been to Gossip Bar on a regular day so I'm not sure if its only set up that way for gigs. The billiard table served as a merch table and that is where I go when the black metal bands are playing. I bought Rudra and Ironfist merchandise. I left immediately after Ironfist's set and didn't party anymore because I now live in the sticks of Singapore, and I don't want to miss the train as taxi rates are expensive at night and I spent my money on beer and merch, hahaha! There are lots of hot metal chicks as well, and I wish I have taken a lot of random photos but I was focused with the metal that was flowing that night. I have been living in Singapore for a year now and it's about time I supported the local scene. 'Til the next gig. Horns up! NAFRAT www.myspace.com/nafrat- One of the new bands in Singapore that I like. DRACONIS INFERNUM www.myspace.com/draconisinfernum- No comment. I've seen them open for Defiled and Hydrophobia. This was the last gig of the vocalist and the bassist. Time to go to the merch table. MELTGSNOW www.myspace.com/meltgsnow666- Bang your fucking head! Lord Insanity (Vocals) definitely knows how to command a crowd. BHELLIOM www.myspace.com/bhelliomsg - If you are into Swedish melodic death metal you will like them. RUDRA www.myspace.com/vedicmetal- I was banging my head all throughout their set. MEZA VIRS www.myspace.com/mezavirs- No comment. I find the stage banters hilarious though. "You will end up at the hospital!" (Referring to the outcome of their set). Time to go the merch table. Again. IRONFIST www.myspace.com/fistsoftheeast - I was totally violated. Hahaha! Fucking killer band live. This gig is a part of their "Fisting The East" mini tour. They will molest Thailand and Malaysia as well. RANDOM

Thats awesome alex!, its funny coz I was actually gonna ask you if you'll be attending that gig weeks ago but my mind failed me once again, hehe.
Awesome that you saw Ironfist live!, one of my favorite Singa bands at the moment. My gf is actually in contact with Rape (vox). I like their mix of heavy metal and black metal. Do you know the songs that they played? man, most of their chorus are total sing along anthems, I'm sure the crowd went wild!.
Sexxekution !

I wasn't sure to go because of a family thing, but when it got cancelled, I headed straight to the venue. Hahaha! Not in order and this is all that I remember: - Succubus Slaughter (Annabel-Chong) - Transilvestite Hunger - Vaginatron - Adnan's Last Stand - Come To The Sabbath - Mercyful Fate Cover - This one's for you Vil, Hahaha! There is one chick on the frontline that was knocked out for a few seconds, because a boot said hello to her head. Hahaha! The crowd went ape shit for sure. They had a technical difficulty because the amp over heated so Psycho Fai had to switch amps, while doing so, the rest of the sexxx maniax played random shit that almost made me fart from laughing. Rape was singing "All McDonald had a farm" etc... Man, I miss Chamber 69, they have the similar sense of humor. Hahaha!

The week of May 19-22 was memorable for me, this was the time when I saw several of the bands I've been following. The night of May 19 was the gig of the rock-ish venom worship band from Ohio called Midnight, I actually had duties that day so I was hauling ass on my way to the gig. The venue wasnt helping either since it's in a small punk/pizza place hidden in Long beach but I got there in time. Several punk bands played before Midnight (one of them I rememeber had a GREAT set and sounded so similar to dead kennedys, too bad only handful including me were actually watching, hehe). Midnight played a great set, I find myself screaming along in most of their tunes raising my beer (or fist) up high. And you know that it was a great gig specially if you cant talk properly the next day after losing your voice screaming your lungs out from the night before, hehe. Here's the set list, I might left a song or two but these are all I remember (not necessarily in this order) 1.Blackrock n roll 2.Vomit Queen 3.Endless Slut 4.Long Live Death 5.I am Violator 6.All Hail Hell 7.White Hot Fire 8.Unholy and Rotten 9.Hot graves 2 days after the Midnight Gig came the Black Twilight Circle US tour. The Los angeles show was their kick off for this tour, and as always, it was held at the Black Castle. I was excited about this tour since I heard it late last year, it was originaly a Bone Awl tour but it ended up becoming Bone Awl, Ashdautas, Volahn tour which is even better on my part. I've been a fan of bone awl since their early demos, I think I have every cassette they've released so far (well except those with retarded limitations) if you havent heard of them, I see them as a clean Ildjarn worship with D-beat pattern. Anyway, I purposely came late since I dont want to see most of the opening bands and to my luck, the show started late hence making me watch the local acts such as Inhuman Sacrifice, I think this was the second time I've seen that band without a choice, they're one of those death/black clones around LA. Next band that played was this mexican black metal band that was recently signed to candlelight, I didnt give a fuck really. Then came Cirrhus, it's a new band from Klaxon fronted by the dude from Bone Awl and I think their set was a crusher! I am definitely not familiar with their music but they definitely delivered the goods. Ashdautas played after, Ashdautas is one of those bands that caught my attention due to their vocalist, I'm not familiar with their materials other than the one from their "Shadow Plays..." LP which I own (and yes, I bought it back then because of the vocals as well), Ashdautas played an epic 25 mins. of black metal and it was good for the first 15 mins until my attention went to the retarded mexicans fistfighting on the pit (and they were kicked out, hehe), their vocalist is wearing one of those black cloaks that adds up to their athmosphere. Bone awl played a bunch of songs, but I didnt recognize some of the new tunes. The crowd went wild on BA set and I'm sure more than half of the audience went there only for BA, their upbeat grinding noise made the crowd crazy. After Bone Awls set came Volahn !!!!!!!!!!!!, now this is the most impressive band the whole night IMO. Volahn blew me away, I heard maybe a song or two from them/him weeks before going to the show and they play this very well crafted type of black metal you havent heard before, I was totally hooked on their set, too bad only a couple of us stayed since most hipsters went home already after BA, oh well, their loss I guess. If you're reading this report and havent heard of Volahn, I recommend you listen to them, you wont be dissapointed (or you may, hehe). Here's some pics from that night (not my pics) Cirrhus Bone Awl Ashdautas Volahn Here's an extra funny video from the back of the black castle during that night. hehe, cant stop laughing from the dude who has this thick mexican accent yelling "ok suck my dick!" on the last part. I think there was 3 fights during that night hahaha Here's a video from Bone awl and Volahn off the tour (not from LA tho) Bone Awl www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6qk83IGibwVolahn www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdexR9h2NTk

fuck man awesome gigs you've got there... Midnight and then Black Twilight tour.
Agree on Volahn awesome band lupit ng full length nila... for me far better than Ashdautas (the vocals is too screechy, wailish...though come to think of it its gotten tolerable after repeated listens lolz). Just downloaded yesterday the Worship Black Twilight compilation with the other members of the Circle - Kallathon, Axeman, Arizmenda. Totally digging it.

Embrace the Hate 09 (Photos and videos from the fest were found by me on the internet) Fuckin Hell !!!.....was my very first thought as soon as I got there, the venue was so hot that you will think that you just entered the gates of hell as soon as you get in the Black castle. The show started around 4 but I got there by 6 so I missed this one italian BM band and the other local act, no biggie. The very first band that played as soon as I got in was Nocturnal Blood, headed by the kid from Nuclear Desecration backed up by the guys from Sanguis Imperem. Descent beherit worship, nothing special really. Nocturnal Blood Next band was NECROHOLOCAUST from canada, now this band got my blood pumping. I'm not really VERY familiar with this band since I only have their demo CD-r (havent even picked up their split with Deiphago) and the last time I listened it was probably a year or 2. They played a great set and a cover, the drummer is the main vocalist so me and a friend are gigling since he's using the madonna mic, hehe, but damn his vocals are bestial as bestial you can get, it has great similarities to black winds of Blasphemy (and btw, this band also consists of a blasphemy member). Necroholocaust Walkin around while the next band is setting up their gear, and the crowd keeps getting bigger and bigger (more than 250 or so) and the temperature is also increasing so me and a friend decided to get a cold beer (and later on it was sold out), a bunch of familiar people were around and tons of drunk chicks for some reason. The Manticore dude was there too since the band cancelled due to some drummer issues, someone told me that they saw blaash (WMS) but I didnt really see him nor do I care, hehe. Next band was the black rockin band from texas OBEISANCE, I feel bad since most of their songs are good, catchy and sloppy from the LP but after seeing them live, they suffered from a not-so-good sounding set up, the vocals and guitars were drowned by the drumming. All you can hear was the usual onstage rant about goat, satan, fans and nuclear warfare (which is pretty entertaining, hehe)but other than that, I'm dissapointed because I really enjoy their materials. From dissapointment came FEAR!!! the satanic hispanics from MORBOSIDAD played after obeisance. No joke, everytime I see Morbosidad, there's always this voice in the back of my head saying "Tangina, Morbosidad na, masasaktan ba ako neto o hinde, sana hinde, makalipat nga sa gitna ng crowd....uy dumudugong pugot na ulo ng baboy..ay pucha eto na, sana wag nya ito ipagbabato sa tao..". And as expected, it happened. Geared with monstrous amount of ammos/bullet belts enough to wipe out the neighborhood, these guys delivered brutality sonically and literally. Bible pages were burnt, bloody pigs head were tossed around the crowd, crazy pits...not the very best place for a 5"7' pinoy dude like myself, even one of the ARCHGOAT dude were hiding on my back to avoid the crazyness happening haha. The last time I saw morbosidad, some people got hit by a piece wood from the broken crucifix, now this pigs head is getting tossed around like a soccer ball, people got hit and that doesnt stop them to continue tossing it around. Gravehill came next!, this band is from my hometown Anaheim, they are one of the best Death Metal bands around as we speak. And live, they are very good as well, from their metal armor to music, everything was flawless. Go check them out ! Gravehill Check out those horns!, hehe AFter Gravehill came NOKTURNE, the vocalist looked alot like Attila and Maniac combined, not a good sight. The vocalist brought a real taser to threaten the crowd and even use it to some people in attendance.... oh and did I mention that they were NS? yes, not the best music to be played in a Ghetto side of los angeles filled with minorities. Me and a friend just went to the backroom since we didnt really like the music. When we got out, we just saw the vocalist spilling melted candle wax in the front row and throwing lighted candles on the crowd before ending their set. haha, very few were pleased fron that band. Nokturne Nice swastika ! lol Then comes ARCHGOAT, they were great live!!. They played a bunch of songs from the new album and a couple of old ones. Their set was really short so most people were craving for more, and nope no encore either, so when they were done everyone was like "that's it?". It was short but really sweet. They played every tune perfectly and the vocals is sicker than the album!!! if necroholocaust was bestial then I dont know how to decribe archgoat's. You can hear it on the video but it's more wicked in person. ARCHGOAT

Tell me about the Archgoat vocals... do they put much reverb in there? I listened to that Necroholocaust it was pretty meh-ish; I am sure there's more bands with this style that are better. I still have Mefitic in mind, haha.
