lol yeah, I have the same sentiments regarding vacancy. The last movie I saw in theaters was "Across the Universe", it's a musical flick / beatles tribute, the movie didnt do anything for me, but my cousins thought that it was great, the psychedelic visual effects were stunning, makes the viewers think they're tripping, hehe. for dvd, me and my brother are huge fans of those cheezy 80's B-movies/exploitation films, for a change, a friend of mine lend me his copy of this new-ish gore movie from japan last week called "ichi the killer", the packaging is truly eye-catching, both DVD's are stored in a blood-pack. br00tal!. here's a picture: Right: Normal DVD Left: Ichi the Killer Blood - pack DVD the movie was great in my opinion, it's wierd and there's shitload of senseless deaths/beatings, but that add up to the movies uniqueness. hehe. Fuckin' A! That's a bloody (pun intended) packaging! totally awesome packaging. killer movie! i finally saw Mulholland Drive. beautiful, fucked up and confusing hehe. one of lynch's best also an old local movie was on last night i forgot the title, with Ace Vergel (speed/meth enthusiast, always harassed by cops), Rudy Fernandez and Vivian Velez (hot! champion sa kasexyhan)

Watched "30 Days Of Night" last Sunday in the theater. It's not what I was expecting, but it's not that bad. Love how those vampires (creatures) shriek! I usually hate vampire flicks. Especially those flicks where the vamps are modeled after Lugosi's Dracula, I prefer Schreck's Nosferatu, no offense Vincent Price. Because let's face it Drac type vamps give off a creepy homo-erotic vibe (don't pretend you haven't noticed!) and Nos types are more like filthy plague bearing rats, which is much better IMO. Good thing the vamps in this one are more Nos than Drac. While not a straight rip-off it has so many visual and plot elements in common with John Carpenter's the thing: Arctic isolation, survivors get picked off one by one and even the monster (in this case vampires) wrecking the chopper and killing the dogs (no tower of drooling, snarling flesh though....). I like the fact that the effects team used more prosthetics and stunt work for the vampires instead of a lot of fancy-shmancy computer trickery. Although there was some CGI the digital effects used in the movie were very subtle except for the UV lamp scene and the last dawn scene. The top view cam shot showing the vamipre feeding frenzy was cool, the over-use of jerky camera close ups for the vamps was not. I didn't like the technique when it was used on NYPD Blue and I still don't like it. I mean after all, it's called a STEADICAM for fuck's sake as in S-T-E-A-D-Y. The overall desaturated color scheme of the flick was a nice touch too. For the most part there was nothing fanboy-ish about the movie (surprising considering this was based on a comic book) except the chainsaw-ice-tractor scene and the fist-through-the-skull vamp fight towards the end of the flick. Best line: '"God?....." (vamp scans the sky then looks back down on female victim) "No god."

(vamp scans the sky then looks back down on female victim) "No god." I kinda saw that coming when he looked up to the sky... I knew he was gonna say something good in that scene. I have to see it again though cause I keep on going to the restroom to pee. I had too much iced tea, that day. It wasn't clear to me how the vampires got to Alaska. I'm thinking they were on the ship at the start of the film... I dunno...

Like in Constantine, Prison Break and Minority Report.

The movie version of The Twilight Zone are just remakes of episodes from the original series except for one. But I like William Shatner's version of "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" better then John Lithgow's though.

L4yer Cake. very witty and absolutely clever modern gangster movie. notice i said gangster and not gangsta? this isnt about those yo, yo, yo.. bling bling shit. this is fast paced and "fast spoken" LOL. so keep yer eyes open get ya british ears ready mates. lead character is Daniel "the new 007" Craig. and yes i liked this more than the last Bond movie. you can get it dirt cheap at Odyssey or Astrovision. (got the VCD for 50 pesos)
