Whats with the hair?
Buzz: so you havn't heard of the Jackson 5
I named my dog Buzz is it okay?
Buzz: Fuck Buzz is intended for cows how dare you insult me in such a way !!!!
Those were some of Buzz Osbourne's answers when i wrote him aeons ago. A lot of bands owe's a lot of debt to the mighty Melvins. I doubt if kids of today can stomach such a band hehehehe.

I always thought of getting my hands/ears on stuff from the Melvins ever since I heard that track played in Not Radio way way back (don't even remember the title), as well as the one from the Demon Knight soundtrack. But for some reason I always forgot about them. Maybe because I've read some weird reviews on their albums before. Can anyone give me an idea on which album I should start?

My first dose of Melvins was that same track that eltorente is probably talking about; I was just tuned in to Not Radio and they played this short and dirty track that sounded really really heavy. I've been sick seeing Melvins features in Metal Maniacs for years and then I hear that track and thought they might be 'okay'
That said, I don't know Melvins so yes how shameful of me

Just finished listening to the "Stag" album. Three letters: WTF
I mean that in a good way, though. There's plenty of Melvins sludgy goodness to be had. But they add some garnishes to some songs that you can't help but wonder. A trombone solo in a sludge metal song? Chipmunk vocals over a song that sounds more like a lullaby than anything else? Sitar/electric guitar harmonies (it sounds great though)? You gotta hear the album in full to get the whole effect. What a trip!
I got a hankerin' to check out Boris, Sunn O and them other spawn of Melvins from Southern Lord lol. Guys, any suggestions for good drone, ambient or avant-garde metal?
