we missed that, di yata kami pinayagan ni erpat. i've had their cd's since late 80's and memorized nearly all their songs. had their posters on my wall next to the ultimate warrior's and tshirts and stuff. it was the saddest evening ever for me and my bro.

yea, that was kinda odd. there were a lot of other local bands far more appropriate to front metallica - dab, bif, genital, etc. makitid pa kasi utak at masyado play safe producers nun. ika nga samin nun ni patrick ng dredd "i'm sorry but i don't think the market is ready for your kind of music."

They don't know shit about what people liked - even back then they were out of touch... the world around them was already changing and they're too slow to admit that. Even that stupid fuck Salito from Sony music...the bitch wanted us to copy Jethro Tull thinking people still liked that hippie bullshit. If they had foresight Dredd would still be open, and they'd all be rich by now.

And what the fuck is "pinoy rock"? generic rock with tagalog lyrics? they're not making filipino music better...they're only making rock and roll worse. speaking of, check out http://www.astig.us...apart from the name "astig" the bands on there are actually "pussies" well, except icono of course, cause I'm biased like that. you should check out the idiots from pinoy rockers "wolfgang" and "razorback"..they have a new band that, since "pearl jam" is out of style, they're copying "velvet revolver" now. heh.

like slayer, i continued to enjoy metallica's old albums and simply don't listen to that black one and onwards. di ko masyado kilala bands dun sa www.astig.us, i've heard some of 'em like wolfgang and my sis has a friend from the teeth i think, and i was introduced to sandro of sugar hiccup and his wife at a gig and we were invited to a birthday at their place but i must admit that i have no idea about their music. i dunno why. i dunno velvet revolver either. don't mean to offend pero i guess their music failed to stop me in my tracks ang go "whoa! gusto ko nyan!" oh yeah, and mario knows this band from his teen years that used play grunge and totaly disliked death metal. then when it became popular over some radio station, they transformed into a death metal band. hehehehe! that is just SO weird! i think they're in kabilang anyo.

Yes, I'm aware of the Solitude thing...the problem is, we (the marikina scene) never recorded our evolution properly...I wish I had all the equipment I have now back then. What I mean is, Scum started off as a grindcore/thrash band, but in a matter of only a few years evolved (by the time death metal was marketable) into a tech/melodic metal band...iconoclast was half-way getting out of the death metal vocal style too...weird because we had a lot to do with the development of the melodic death metal scene. What I wished Joel would have done was he should have recorded as SCUM, with your old line-up, just for historical and documentation purposes, not about the songwriter's fee or whatever reason. But of course, Joel's heart wasn't there anymore. I just thought it was a shame. I feel that recognition is very important, that the kids should get their facts straight. I think that's what its all about. After all, we are in a thankless genre where everybody work their asses off and nobody gets paid.

I also know of that chameleon-like death metal band you speak of...intriga! can anybody around here guess who it is?! is Sandro still married to "sugar"? hehehe just ask Mike about...ok I'll shut up now.

That's the problem here in the philippines no one and i say no one will dare take that risk to make a big label like Nuclear Blast, Earache, RoadRunner Records..Etc. because the music is not profitable, Rich producers only think of getting themselves more richer, and i feel sorry for all those new bands coming, because they dont know shit about the business

"What I wished Joel would have done was he should have recorded as SCUM, with your old line-up" - i didn't play no more and he didn't want to continue with the same name without me. what they were intending to record was an old original of ours done in the style of SOLITUDE. i don't really care that much about recognition, gusto ko lang makita na healthy yung scene and true to itself so i can proudly say that i was once part of that and it was awesome!
"velvet revolver is the new "in" band featuring ex- guns and roses members..." - katakot! wahahahaha!
"I also know of that chameleon-like death metal band you speak of...intriga! can anybody around here guess who it is?!" - ako ngang nagkwento di ko maalala pangalan nung banda na yun e. hahahaha!
"is Sandro still married to "sugar"? hehehe just ask Mike about...ok I'll shut up now." - oist! masyado na personal yan, hayaan na natin sila to do whatever behind closed doors.
"no one will dare take that risk to make a big label" - my bro and i would prolly have ended up seriously producing albums if i didn't have to bail out that early. joel (the mad scientist) already had a decent recording studio set up and i (the greatest criminal genius of our time) was looking into starting a label... well, no use crying over what might have been... maganda kaya yung bagong SUPERMAN? kita ko na trailer, theme song pa lang pumapalakpak na ko.

velvet revolver is the new "in" band featuring ex- guns and roses members... I also know of that chameleon-like death metal band you speak of...intriga! can anybody around here guess who it is?! Are VR still in? I remember they were all the rage a while back. I gave em a listen but wasn't too impressed. IMHO it can be hard to repackage yourself if your previous band hit it big. Either you have to be 10x better at the same style, or play a new style entirely, such that you can't be compared. But even if you go the way of shifting to another genre you have to be sure to be good at that too .... ... I know who the chameleons are!

I heard they have a new CD is this true?
