Jazz will never be the same without mentioning the name Miles Davis. arguably one of greatest artist ever.Been a fan of jazz since i was 7 way before Mercyfull fate and Metallica polluted my ears and made me decide to make black as my favorite color.Thou some people find it a bit weird for a 7 year old to listen to jazz and appreciate it, well in my case i wasn't really into other stuff except music. Sports was something i wasn't really fond off even though our house is in front of a big basketball court.Never had a gaming console when i was young for they thought it will affect my studies so i just spend my time at home playing my uncle's records stuff like Ornette Coleman,John Coltrane,Charlie Parker,Charles Mingus,Thelonious monk. But miles was different in my ears he has that sound that made me think that he has far more that what i can comprehend. www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTfBpKzu6XAwww.youtube.com/watch?v=TR5b0Eryr1U&feature=related

Amen. Casually discovering Miles in the mid-90s, and then later suddenly "getting" _In a Silent Way_ and _Filles de Kilimanjaro_ were big life-changing moments for me.

Bitches Brew was the first record i had an experience with Miles and to be honest i don't have an idea technically on what they are doing its just the sound they producing was more exciting than whats on commercial radio i mean MENUDO and WHAM common its when that i got older that i have a grasp of how it was and what is inside the record creatively.I never dreamt of becoming a jazz musician for Discipline and patience where never my virtue and to learn jazz deeply you got to have plenty of those. spinupspindown Sir if you like i have some Brian Blade stuff form his work with Wolfgang Muthspiel and Joshua Redman i can burn you some stuff together with some cool dvd's with Jack DeJohnette for a cold bottle of beer hehe.

I got the "Kind of Blue" album at a CD sale a few years ago. I'd like to explore more of Miles Davis' stuff. Any recommendations?

Back to whence pirated DVD's weren't hip in Quiapo, the first batch of concert DVD's included a Miles Davis concert, and being familiar with the name and as well being a fan of Citylite 88.3, I bought it. It's the most boring thing since I saw since that live Emperor DVD. The only Miles Davis track I appreciate is quite funnily enough, a cover. A cool rendition of Michael Jackson's cult song, "Human Nature." Great arrangement on that track right there. There's something about it that's total nostalgia.
