I never thought this album would ever get finished and released. But here I am listening to the CD.
My initial thoughts on the album: it's kinda underwhelming and there's a real lack of songs that rock. After the first two songs, the tempo of the album tapers off and only gets back up on track 8. It's a more mature and introspective album not only with the mood of the songs but also on Axl's vocal performance. He mixes his singing a bit with some mid and low vocals. I'm on my second listen of the album and I'm enjoying it more this time around.
I guess you just have to prepare yourself when listening to this album. If you liked GNR because they were part of your childhood, your growing up years and they rocked so hard back then, this album isn't for you. This is not the same GNR from your childhood. This is an older, wised up and modern (some say in the context of 1999) Guns N' Roses (GNR = Axl Rose). We're not the same persons we were back in 1988 or 1991, we all grew up and so did GNR. I have to admit though, Axl sounds great on this CD.
So do you have plans of getting this album? Or at least downloaded it? If so, what are your thoughts?

they were not a part of my childhood but I'm still interested getting a copy, but since they've streamed five songs in their myspace page... I lost my whole interest getting a copy. I think I've heard enough to make a decision. the songs were bland, even though the vocals were great. the production is top notch (even on myspace streaming standards) but still, not a valid reason for me to pick this one. I think AC/DC's Black Ice smoked this one so bad...

I never liked Guns N' Roses but the song "My Michelle" rocks. I admit that I played the intro of "Sweet Child O' Mine" countless times to piss off my band mates back in high school.
